In light of the recent restrictions regarding
carrying liquids past airport security
checkpoints, one would think bottled
water sales would take a hit at properties
like the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare.
The Crowne Plaza is adjacent to the airport,
and its River Rock Deli, a food court
offering quick snacks and takeaway
meals, sells Nestlé Waters' Ice Mountain®
Brand Natural Spring Water.
“Sales on Ice Mountain are insane,”
notes Andrew Rohrer, food & beverage
director. “Customers are still buying it like crazy, and just chugging it before they get to the checkpoints.”
The hotel also has a bar, Rickenbacker’s Lounge, and though water is not the beverage of choice there,
they offer the Nestlé Perrier® brand as a spring water alternative. “It actually serves as a great mixer,” adds
Rohrer.
In the hotel, each guestroom is equipped with two bottles of Acqua Panna® Spring Water for a charge of
$2.95 each. A little pricier than the Ice Mountain, Acqua Panna’s sales are not quite as high, says Rohrer, but
guests appreciate the option of the more upscale brand, and it complements the Crowne Plaza’s image of
“unique and first-class accommodations for all.”—ABA
