With their new tagline “Number 1 in Food Safety—Now in Personal Safety,” DayMark® Safety Systems has extended their reach and presence in the hotel industry with several new food safety innovations as well as a new line of OSHAcompliant first aid solutions, according to Laurie Kopina, national accounts manager, eastern region for DayMark®.
A “Cut Glove” Above the Rest—Kopina touted DayMark’s new HexArmor® cut gloves
featuring FingerArmor™. The product was developed to curtail the more than $300 million
OSHA reports lost each year on hand injuries. These nimble finger and thumb attachments
and full-hand gloves are cut, puncture, and abrasion resistant.
Well known for its Date Coding Markers for proper usage, rotation and/or disposal of
perishable, shelf-stable and frozen foods, DayMark’s “machine-applied labels,” aka labeling
guns, adhere labels to plastic and metal surfaces. Two of the newest and most innovative
labels, Kopina points out, include DayMark’s Dissolve-A-Way® day-of-the-week labels
“which are biodegradable and FDA compliant for non-food contact and ideal for prep-pans”
and the CoolMark™ freezable labels, “which even adhere to ice crystal laden surfaces.”
Kopina also notes other DayMark® innovations including new tri-lingual (English, Spanish, and French) day-of-the-week labels, (microwavable/freezable) portion bags and Grip2Go pastry bags.
Many of the new products were designed with both food safety and cost efficiency in mind. “Our new Timestrips® label,” Kopina says, has a dimple that is pushed down to monitor two, three, five, or seven days.” In addition, Kopina stresses they are temperature sensitive in case there’s a malfunction in the refrigeration unit. “Hotels can’t afford to lose 500 or 600 cases of product,” she notes, “nor take a chance with a guest’s health.” —WD
