A well-known name for excellence in china and flatware products,
Mikasa Hotel & Restaurant has recently expanded their offerings
to include a new line of glassware, Oenology. Oenology is
designed to enhance the experience of wine tasting. Clarity and
durability meld to provide incomparable glassware, made of an
advanced material, called Kwarx.
Kwarx is a revolutionary glass unrivaled in clearness, sheen
and breakage resistance, according to Lori Ellsworth, VP of
marketing with Cardinal/ARC International. “There is no color to
the Kwarx glass whatsoever, so that it has no effect on the color of the wine coming through.” Ellsworth adds, “It’s
good for use in the food service industry because it is very durable and dishwasher safe.”
The Oenology line is separated into two ranges, Open Up and Select, to maximize wine flavors based on vintage.
The Open Up range consists of uniquely designed shapes that are made to optimize the flavors of young wines. “We
tend to drink young wine in the United States, while in Europe an older wine is typically served,” Ellsworth says.
The Select range consists of traditionally shaped glasses that are ideal for drinking older wines. Whether you prefer
young wines or older vintages, Mikasa’s Oenology glassware provides designs to experience any wine to the fullest.—AV
