Imagine a piece of equipment so versatile that a hotel chain can base their restaurant concept around the oven. InterContinental Hotels has done just that in the Hotel Indigo's Golden Bean café.
Serving breakfast and dinner, the café utilizes three TurboChef ovens, which cook programmed menu items and deliver them to guests in just minutes.
Lesley Maxwell, lead In-tertainer at the Golden Bean, uses prepared foods and finishes the cooking in the TurboChef ovens. Everything from steaks to egg dishes are cooked in the oven. "Customers are surprised how fast orders are delivered," Maxwell says.
Other benefits: The oven does not require a hood or fire suppression system. Plug it in, set up the menu, and cook. Labor savings is another benefit. Hotel Indigo can create high-quality plates without a full kitchen of classically trained chefs.
Chefs responsible for satellite locations run by high school kids can finally obtain piece of mind. A push of the button ensures consistent production and alleviates the training factor. Menu items can be changed and programming handled on-site.--KB
