When it comes to hotel flatware suppliers, Walco Stainless is positioned as a leader with their innovative Forged Handle Flatware Patterns. Made from rod stock steel, versus flat-sheet, these patterns convey elegance along with a substantial feel of durability and heft. "Traditionally, only knife handles could be made from rod stock, but over the last five years through Walco's Forged Handle Flatware Patterns, hoteliers and restaurateurs can serve diners with much heavier forks and spoons--and we've made them affordable for foodservice," according to Philip J. Benbenek, Walco Stainless vice president. Unique among hotel flatware suppliers, according to Benbenek, which typically don't offer forged handle flatware patterns, Walco Stainless offers trend setting flatware designs and finishes ideal for hotel restaurants.
Walco's Handmade Collection came out in 2004 and includes Rustic Tree, which gives the flatware piece a beautiful "melted crayon" look by design, along with a substantial thick handle in a satin-like finish, which helps hide fingerprints, according to Benbenek. Two other patterns from the Handmade Collection include Riptide, which looks like "shimmering waves," produced in 18/10 stainless with a bright finish reflecting light in unique and attractive ways. Another pattern from Walco's Handmade Collection is Charred, which has a checkerboard look containing small black squares produced through an oxidation process.
These flatware pieces are also oversized to fit today's larger Euro-sized dinnerware items, Benbenek shares.
